Accessibility

What we are aiming for

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the international standard for web accessibility. That is a floor, not a finish line.

What we have checked

• Every colour combination on the site has been measured against the contrast requirements, by an automated check that runs on every build.
• The whole site can be operated with a keyboard alone, and whatever you are focused on is always visibly outlined.
• Every page works with JavaScript switched off. Our address, phone numbers and opening hours are plain text in the page, not something assembled afterwards.
• Nothing scrolls sideways on a narrow screen, down to 320 pixels wide, and the site is usable at 200% zoom.
• Buttons and links are large enough to hit with a thumb, and every form field has a visible label rather than a placeholder that disappears as you type.
• If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the site respects that.

What we know is not perfect

• The directions button hands you over to Google Maps, which is not our site and which we cannot make accessible. If that does not work for you, the full address is written out on the contact page and we can give directions over the phone.
• We have not yet had this site tested by people who use assistive technology day to day. Automated checks catch roughly a third of real problems; the rest are found by people.
